I currently teach in a self-contained kindergarten through second grade special education classroom for students with significant behavioral difficulties. I never go home without a story from my day! I'm deeply invested in my students' lives not only academically, but emotionally as well. A big component of the program I teach in is social skills, and I love teaching new social skills topics to my students.
When I'm not at school, and not sleeping, I'm getting my Masters in Reading. I student taught with a reading specialist back in 2009-2010, and from then on I knew that's what I wanted to ultimately become "when I grew up." Don't tell any of my students, but I HATE math, and I'm not terribly fond of teaching it either. I can't wait until I can be a reading specialist or literacy coach and teach students to read all day!
I also enjoy hanging out with the best cat in the world, Miao. He's named after a student I had from China a few summers ago when I was an RA at Princeton University.
